I Peter 1:19-20
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of the lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.
In Genesis chapter 3 we read where Adam and Eve disobeyed God and hid from Him in the garden. This was the first sin. As the Lord walked through the garden He called to Adam and said, “Where art thou?” If we stop and really think about this we know the Lord already knew where Adam and Eve were because He knows and sees all things. In my heart I believe God was asking them, why have you separated yourselves from Me?
When we, as Adam did, disobey God we separate ourselves from Him also. Just as God made a covering for Adam and Eve in the garden He also has made a covering for us; a way for us to come back into relationship with Him. At the first sin God made a sacrifice of an animal, mostly likely a lamb, to make a covering for Adam and Eve. The blood of that lamb was shed to bring a covering for them.
If we go over to Exodus chapter 12 we read where the death angel was going to visit the Egyptians. God told Moses to tell the Israelites to sacrifice a lamb and spread the blood of that lamb upon the doorpost of their house and when He saw the blood of the sacrificed lamb He would pass over them and they would live. This was the first Passover.
Over 2000 years ago Jesus became our Passover. He was the perfect Lamb slain for our sin and disobedience. In John 1:29, John the Baptist saw Jesus coming to him to be baptized and he said, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world. Jesus came to be a covering for our sin and disobedience. He willing gave His life upon the Cross of Calvary so we could live and have a personal relationship with the Father. I Peter 1:9, tells us we are redeemed through the blood of the Lamb without spot or blemish. What a deep and unselfish love the Lord has to have for us to be willing to take our sins upon Himself and die in our stead so we can live.
Today is the Heavenly Father saying to you, “Where art thou?” He loves you so much dear friends and longs to have a relationship with you as His child. He gave His only Son Jesus Christ to die as the perfect lamb so each of us could have life and not have to face eternal death and separation from Him. All He asks is for us to become obedient to Him by inviting Him into our heart and life. When we accept Jesus into our heart and life as the perfect Lamb of God we come under the covering of His blood that was shed for each of us. We no longer have to worry about being separated from the Father, or over this world and the things of this world because we have the Father, our Savior Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who are always there looking out for us, protecting us, and guiding us. So if the Lord is saying to you today, “Where art thou?” Just answer Him with a simple, “Lord, here I am.” He will come to you bringing the covering of the blood of Christ for you just as He brought the covering for Adam and Eve and the Israelites all those many years ago.
Heavenly Father, I invite you to come into my heart and life today. I know I am a sinner only saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that was shed upon the cross for my sins and the sins of the world. I don’t want to live my life without You Lord. I need Your presence in my life and Your covering over me daily. I surrender my life to You this moment knowing with You I will have an eternal home with the Father and be in a full relationship with Him again. I love you Lord and I need You! I give You honor, praise and eternal thanks for Your ever abiding love and grace to me. In Jesus Name, Amen
