Monday’s Devotional

Monday’s Devotional
Deuteronomy 31:8 kjv
And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Inspiration
Last Friday as I drove to pick my groceries I was listening to one of my favorite songs now, “There was Jesus” by Zach Williams and Dolly Parton; as I listen to these lyrics below tears began to run down my checks, “When the life I built came crashing to the ground, when the friends I had were nowhere to be found, I couldn’t see it then but I can see it now, THERE WAS JESUS!”
The life I personally had built then is gone now; I have accepted that and moved on but I realized some hurts go very deep. Along with the hurt of a lost relationship I also had dealt with the loss of my church family. This kind of pain runs deep and takes time to heal completely; I know the Lord is healing me every day and through all that I have faced He was always there. The days and nights I cried with no one else there; He was there, holding me spiritually, strengthening me, carrying me, and supplying my needs. For that I can never love my Lord and Savior enough or give Him enough praise. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I could never have made it without Him. And I know with time He will completely heal all the brokenness I still have buried inside.
I also know in my heart there are many others who are hurting with a pain that goes so deep that it will take a long time to heal but please my friends do not go through the hurt and pain alone. Jesus loves you with a love our mortal mind can’t even begin to understand and He longs to pour His love out on each of us, including you. He wants to comfort and strengthen you, and yes, to heal you. I encourage you to read these lyrics and listen to this song. I pray it will bring comfort to you as it reminds you that you are never alone and that Jesus is always there. He loves you my friends and so do I. I encourage you to give it to Jesus and allow him to bring you the healing you so desperately need.

Lyrics
Every time I try to make it on my own
Every time I try to stand, I start to fall
And all those lonely roads that I have traveled on
There was Jesus
When the life I built came crashing to the ground
When the friends I had were nowhere to be found
I couldn’t see it then but I can see it now
There was Jesus
In the waiting, in the searching
In the healing, in the hurting
Like a blessing buried in the broken pieces
Every minute, every moment
Where I’ve been or where I’m going
Even when I didn’t know it Or couldn’t see it
There was Jesus
For this man who needs amazing kind of grace
For forgiveness and a price I couldn’t pay
I’m not perfect so I thank God every day
There was Jesus
There was Jesus
In the waiting, in the searching
In the healing, in the hurting
Like a blessing buried in the broken pieces
Every minute, every moment
Where I’ve been or where I’m going
Even when I didn’t know it Or couldn’t see it
There was Jesus
On the mountains
In the valleys
There was Jesus
In the shadows
Of the alley
There was Jesus
In the fire, in the flood
There was Jesus
Always is and always was, oh
No, I never walk alone
Never walk alone
You’re always there
In the waiting, in the searching
In the healing, in the hurting
Like a blessing buried in the broken pieces
Every minute, every moment
Where I’ve been or where I’m going
Even when I didn’t know it
Or couldn’t see it
There was Jesus

Prayer
Heavenly Father, sometimes our hearts are burdened with a hurt that goes deep into our soul. We don’t always know where to turn and those around sometimes abandon us at our lowest but You Lord I know in my heart will never leave me or forsake me. I ask You to come into my heart and heal all the brokenness. Where there is loss fill me with peace. Teach me Lord to look to You and not to others for my healing. Place in my life the kind of people who will never leave me; remind me that all are human and make mistakes. Help me to forgive those who have hurt me and walked away when I needed them the most. Just as You promised in Your Word I know You Lord will never leave me or forsake me; for that I will love and praise You all the days of my life. In Jesus Name, Amen
