1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 55-57
Verses 51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Verses 55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
There is so much sickness and death around us lately with this new virus we’re dealing with; not to mention all the other diseases around us. As we watch what is happening around us it’s hard not to become depressed and scared. Just this week in our community a young mother in her 40’s died from the COVID virus. My heart has been so heavy for her husband, children and family. Yet, from speaking with her husband and hearing him talk about her life I feel she through her faith just reached her heavenly home a little sooner than the rest of us. Paul wrote in I Corinthians chapter 15 how we would all have to face death but death cannot hold us if we belong to Jesus because He overcame death when He hung on the cross. Verse 57 says, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I encourage you my friends when this world begins to get you down go an find a quiet place to read God’s promises to us; it will give you the strength you need to overcome the depression and the sorrows of this world.
Heavenly Father, we give You thanks for Your promises to us, for we know You have never made a promise You did not keep. Through You and our faith in You we can overcome this world with all its sorrow. We praise You Father and give You thanks for the hope of eternal life through your son and our Savior Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name. Amen
