I have recently been studying in the book of Ecclesiastes. Today in chapter 4 verse 1 read, “So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.” As I read this the thought went through my mind “How depressed Solomon must have been to have written this.” Yet in today’s world we as Christian often feel the same as we see the power of the oppression that is taking place to those who are trying to live as the Word of God teaches. It is so easy to get discouraged if we do not lean on God and His promises to us. As a Christian we know that hatred and oppressions will come for Jesus warned us of this in Matthew 15: 18-19 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” The world may hate us and try to oppress us but Jesus has promised that we as His own will be comforted. John 14:16-18, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” I am so thankful we are never alone, the oppressions of this world will come, my friends, but Jesus is right here with us; holding us up, protecting us, and guiding us. When our days on this earth are through He will take us home to be with Him where there will be no more oppression or hatred only love, peace, and joy. So don’t be discouraged my friends just hold on, in Christ we have the assurance of brighter days coming for those who love and follow Him.
Heavenly Father, We come to you today asking you to comfort us and strengthen us as we face the oppression in today’s world. We know Lord you are in control. Comfort our hearts and minds so we can live in peace knowing you are with us always just as you promised us you would be. We thank you Lord for you love and presence in our lives. We give you all the honor and praise. In Jesus Name, Amen
